Mother's Day Cards for the Prisoners

mothers day cards for prisoners Inspired by the book Holy Moments, the CCW is collecting Mother's Day Cards with Stamps, for the Prisoners this year. Please consider having that Holy Moment and help bring love to a place that is need of feelings God's Love. To give a card, or two, to send out their mom or mother figure will bring out the light of our Lord in that moment and give them hope in a place where darkness can dwell. This is a blessing we all get to take part in. To be able to supply each inmate with a Mother’s Day card we would have to collect over 3000 cards. Since this is our first year, we are hoping to give Deacon enough Mother’s Day cards to distribute to one of the housing units he visits which is about 60 inmates. Of course, if we receive more, we will give Deacon more. The CCW will be collecting the Mother’s Day cards at our April 19th meeting. A box will be placed near the office for the convenience to donate the cards with stamps prior to the meeting. We would like to make this a year-round collection so we can hit that quota of 3000 next year. Please contact Connie Gardner (801)-673-8784 connielgardner@gmail.com or Robin Marvive (209) 502-0904 godsbrat68@gmail.com

Supplies for the Salt Lake County Jail and Oxbow facilities

Dismas ministries Deacon has secured Rosaries, prayer books and prayer and saint cards from Dismas Ministries. These objects of faith and devotion inspire, give hope and share God’s love in a very tangible way. Any donated items, books, Bibles or periodicals must be without sticky labels, staples or hardcover and then are subject to approval by the Programs staff. If you would like to purchase or donate to this cause, please go to Dismas Ministries on the internet. All items can be given to Deacon Joaquín. Come to the CCW April 19th meeting, and Deacon Joaquín will be talking more about Restorative Justice.

Bereavement Ministry

bereavement ministry We have an amazing Bereavement Ministry at St. Martin de Porres. The Bereavement Ministry was created to help and serve our loved ones through a very hard moment. Some families like to be able to gather in the parish hall and break bread after the funeral services. To help the families focus on the day and not the task, the Bereavement Ministry helps by providing donated desserts, sets up the parish, serve at the reception and clean up. The Bereavement Ministry always welcomes new volunteers and donations. If you would like sign-up to support the Bereavement Ministry with donations of desserts and/or your time, please contact Genie Herrera (801) 633-5122 geniec@comcast.net

Veterans Memorial Day Donation Drive

helping veterans The CCW Service Chair Minister Raylene Hallman will be presenting the Veterans Memorial Day Donation Drive at the April 19th meeting and provide a list of items that the Veterans will need. Volunteers will also be needed to help collect the items after each Mass. A majority of donations are received in December and by May all those supplies are depleted. The support that St. Martin de Porres provided last year was greatly appreciated and needed. We hope to continue helping our Veterans and our community with sharing our love and support. Please Contact Raylene Hallman if you would like to help (801) 541-1206 rjhall2000@msn.com

Grounds Ministry

maintain grounds St. Martin de Porres has an amazing group of volunteers to help maintain and groom the church grounds. We are always in need of more help throughout the year. From plowing snow and salting the sidewalks in the winter time, cleaning and planting in the Spring time, lawn and tree maintenance during the summer, to cleaning up leaves and pruning plants in the Fall, any help is a blessing. Remember many hands makes lite work. If you are interested in putting your holy hands to work, please contact the Parish.

Eucharist Revival Morning Rally and Mass Sunday July 9th, 9: am – 4: pm

The mission of the National Eucharistic Revival is to renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. The revival is a movement of Catholics across the United States–healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist—and sent out on mission "for the life of the world".

The Revival is a grassroots call and a challenge for every Catholic across the United States to rekindle the fire of love and devotion for the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. This Eucharistic movement seeks to bring together clergy, religious, laity, apostolates, movements, and parish and diocesan leaders to spur momentum, collaboration, and lasting impact for the renewal of the Catholic Church in the U.S. over the next three years. Each year will have a strategic focus for formation and missionary discipleship.

We are currently in year one of three phase. From July 2022-2023 we have been in the Diocesan Phase. Weekly you have received the inspirational word though Father’s Pastors message in the bulletin. This was to prepare us for the next phase, year two the Parish Phase. Our Bishop Oscar Solis will start off the Parish Phase year with a Eucharistic Revival Mass held on July 9th, 2023. All Sunday Masses will be held on July 9th at the Mountain America Expo Center. There will be seminars, rallies in the morning and a universal Mass that starts at 2:pm. Transportation options will be advised. Bishop will be gathering all the churches to praise our Lord, our Faith and a deeper love and connection to the Eucharist.

There are opportunities to volunteer. If you feel like you want to experience the Eucharistic Revival up close and personal and serve, please sign-up with the Parish. Below is the date, location, and time. Save the Date!
